You Are The Heritage of God

Listen You Are The Heritage of God Rev. Mark Andere

Scripture: Isaiah 54:17; Deuteronomy 7:6

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 54:17 (KJV)

“For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.” Deuteronomy 7:6 (KJV)

A heritage is something precious that belongs to someone and is guarded carefully. You are the heritage of God. He chose you; He set you apart as His own, and He watches over what belongs to Him. Because you are His, His protection, His preservation, and His victory are part of your inheritance.

Notice the words “above all people that are upon the face of the earth.” Out of this multitude, God has identified you. You are not lost in the crowd. Among all the people on earth, He saw you, chose you, and marked you as His own.

1. The divine protection of Jesus

Isaiah 54:17 does not say weapons will never be formed. It says they shall not prosper. Attacks may come, but the One who covers you is greater than any weapon.

Jesus Himself said of His sheep: “I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand” (John 10:28). That is the protection of Jesus. You are held in His hand, and no power can snatch you out of it.

2. God preserves us

To preserve something is to keep it safe and stop it from being destroyed. God does not only rescue us once. He keeps us day after day.

“The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore” (Psalm 121:7–8). Wherever you go this week, you go as one who is kept by God.

3. Divine victory from God

“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 (KJV)

Our victory does not come from our own strength, numbers, or cleverness. It comes from God. When God is on your side, the outcome is already settled. “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57). Walk this week as one who fights from victory, not for victory.

So never allow what is happening around you to change what God has declared about you. Circumstances can be loud, but they do not have the final word. God has declared you chosen, protected, and victorious, and His word stands.

Your heritage is greater than your present circumstances. What you are going through today is temporary. What God has given you is eternal. If God be for you, who can be against you?

4. You are not the enemy’s property

The enemy may attack you, but he will not own you. Attacks are real: sickness, lack, fear, conflict, temptation. But an attack is not ownership. You already belong to Someone.

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)

Paul reminds us: “Ye are not your own. For ye are bought with a price” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). The price was the blood of Jesus. So when the enemy comes knocking, remind him whose you are: I am not the enemy’s property. I am the heritage of God.

5. God’s purpose in your life must be fulfilled

God protects and preserves His heritage for a reason: He has a purpose for you, and that purpose must be fulfilled. No attack, delay, or setback can cancel what God has spoken over your life.

“The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands” (Psalm 138:8). You are the work of His hands. What He started in you, He will finish.

For reflection this week

  1. What “weapon” has been formed against me lately, and what does Isaiah 54:17 say about it?
  2. Do I live like someone who is God’s special possession?
  3. Where have I let fear make me feel owned by the enemy?
  4. What purpose has God placed in me that I need to keep pursuing?

A prayer

Father, thank You that I am Your heritage, chosen and set apart for You. Thank You for the protection of Jesus and for preserving my going out and my coming in. Today I declare that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. The enemy may attack, but he will not own me, because I was bought with the blood of Jesus. If You are for me, who can be against me? Fulfill Your purpose in my life, Lord, and finish the good work You began. In the Mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
